Mark Kafka, Legal Intern

Mark Kafka is currently attending the University of San Diego School of Law in his third year. At San Diego Coastkeeper, Mark has dealt with sediment remediation issues at San Diego Bay shipyards and the Naval Training Center Boat Channel. Mark is currently involved with sediment remediation issues and litigation regarding the proposed 14 mile border fence between San Diego and Tijuana.

Mark graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S./M.S. degree in chemistry in 2002.

 

Adele Karoum, Legal Intern

Adele Karoum is currently in her second year at University of San Diego School of Law and is a member of the San Diego Law Review. Prior to attending law school, she worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA and attended graduate school at UCSD. At Coastkeeper, she is working on coastal wildlife issues and San Diego Bay water quality.

Adele received her B.A. in political science from Amherst College and her M.A. in sociology from University of California San Diego.

 

Kate Weinstein, Legal Intern

Kate Weinstein is currently a third year law student at the University of San Diego School of Law. Her work at San Diego Coastkeeper includes researching the requirements for Bacteria Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) under the Clean Water Act 303(d) listing process, in addition to proposing a Military Toxics campaign to the Waterkeeper Alliance.

Kate received her bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Boston University in 2003.

 

Harold Magistrale, Legal Intern

Harold Magistrale is in his final year at the University of San Diego School of Law where he was Lead Articles Editor for the San Diego International Law Journal. At Coastkeeper he is working on storm water runoff and polluted bay sediment issues. He is interested in the intersection of environmental law and geological sciences.

Harold has a B.S. in Earth Science from U.C. Santa Cruz and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Caltech. He is an adjunct professor at S.D.S.U.
