Gabriel Solmer joined Coastkeeper in January 2004, working on litigation, legislation, and policy issues. She also directs the Environmental Law & Policy Clinic, Coastkeeper's independent legal intern program and coordinates the organization’s legal docket. Gabe leads the Urban Runoff and Toxic Waterways Campaigns, seeking to prevent pollution at its source and remediate hot spots where they occur.

Prior to law school, Gabe worked with the California Space Institute (CalSpace), a multi-campus research unit (MRU) of the University of California which provides research and education resources in both space and earth science.

During law school, Gabe interned with the United States Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division; the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California; and Coastkeeper's Environmental Law and Policy Clinic. As President of her school’s Environmental Law Society she brought recycling containers to campus and hosted several lectures and panels to introduce students to the wider world of environmental law.

Gabriel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, both from the University of California, San Diego. She earned her law degree at the University of San Diego, and joined the California Bar in December, 2003.
