San Diego Coastkeeper

Law & Policy Clinic Campaigns

San Diego Coastkeeper actively participates in the regulatory review process in a constant effort to improve the governance of our waterways by establishing strong conservation plans, and strengthening existing plans for beneficial uses, access, and quality standards. Through its advocacy, Coastkeeper informs and educates the public about critical policymaking, allowing every concerned citizen the opportunity to get involved by voicing his or her opinion.

Coastkeeper is involved in updates of the Inland Surface Waters Plan; the California Ocean Plan; and the Marine Life Management Act, all at the statewide level; and the Water Quality Control Plan for the San Diego Basin (Basin Plan). In addition, Coastkeeper and other concerned environmental groups continue to work together to challenge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its failure to adopt Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for pollutants in California's impaired water bodies.
